Successful Poets Breakfast and Student poetry Competition
Following
the success of the Student Bush poetry competition in 2003, the 2004 competition was held at Marong Community hall on September 12th.
The day commenced with a Poets Breakfast in the morning with poets
coming from as far away as Melbourne.
The competition commenced at 1.30 and didn't finish till 4.30 pm. An entertaining day for all who attended and wonderful
to see the tradition of bush poetry being kept alive by our young folk.
The competition was for primary students and involved a written and performance competition.
The performance competition included:
Section 1 - Prep to Grade 4 and Section 2 - Grades 5 and 6
This included 2 categories; original and other.
The prize money was
provided by Major Sponsors Ric and Jude Raftis of - "Bushsong" Web Page Design & Internet Consultants, Wedderburn, Vic.
Congratulations go to Colin Carrington the President of the Central
Goldfields Bush Poets and the numerous helpers of the event which was compered by Geoffrey Graham.
The performance judges were Jim Brown, Mick Coventry, Lawrence Webb and Carol Reffold.
