2011 June
Geoffrey at Perisher.
I was asked to perform at the third Annual Perisher Folk festival over the June long weekend….what a blast. Not only great audiences, but a change to see some brilliant performances and a chance to hit the snowfields as well. Check out the perisher folk festival website to get an idea of the talent over the weekend. Being a little rusty, I took it a little easy on the skis, but I’ve also realised the older you get, the harder the snow is when you fall!
At on stage the music from Woohoo revue music was being put out through the speakers so you could hear it going up on the chairlift and skiing down the hill wow nothing like snow and music….there’s no music like snow music!!! I think I heard you groan. Even had a jog early one morning, and wondered why I was gasping for breath, until I saw a sign that said 1750m above sea level. Oh, so that’s why. Even if you’re not into snow, still a great weekend getaway.
Geoffrey's Latest Show
Bards and Bushrangers
The topic of Bards and Bushrangers would appear to be most appropriate in a country fascinated with Australian history and with so many areas steeped in pioneering heritage all the more appropriate for the town of Grenfell.
| The Bard link with not only Henry Lawson but ‘Banjo’ Paterson as well provides a unique basis for a foundation of Bush poetry. The area was renown for bushrangers and both Lawson and Paterson wrote about them, though both with differing attitudes. The concept of a salute to pioneers, poets and bushrangers brings out a passion through bush verse, songs, and anecdotes with a mixture of traditional, contemporary and original material. |
 |
“Hear the words of the pioneers; smell the eucalyptus and billy tea, as ghosts of the past rise up, appearing in front of astonished audiences.”
Geoffrey’s own family links with the area makes his performance even more relevant.
